Resident Resources

This page is an attempt to put as much resident information as possible in one place! Please let us know if there are other items you would like to have added to this page. You can scroll down this page and see all of our current items, or you can choose an item from the drop-down box and press the "Go" button. Either way, we hope you will find it helpful.

We are always interested in hearing from home owners interested in serving on the Association Board, so please contact our president, or any other board member, if you are interested.

Contacting the Montgomery Police Department.

The correct phone number for all non-emergency (not 911) calls to the Montgomery Police Department is 241-2651.

Upcoming Events.

Our next Homeowners Association meeting will be held July 17th, 2008, at the Arrowhead Country Club, and will cover multiple items of importance to our neighborhood. We encourage everyone to attend, and to stay involved in our community.

Animal Control.

If you need to contact Montgomery Animal Control, for help with stray dogs, their number is 241-2970. We have had very good response times from them in the past.

If you are having problems with deer, a good place to begin is the Game Warden, who can be contacted at 242-3467. If you are having problems with raccoons, squirrels, etc, you will need to find a commercial company who specializes in this type of pest control.

Maintaining Your Mailboxes.

Recently, we began notifying many of our homeowners about "neglected" mailboxes. These are mailboxes that have turned from the nice dark black they are supposed to be, to a gray washed-out color. Mail flags are missing from some mailboxes and some are not anchored well to the post. We also have some residents who do not have numbers on both sides of their mailbox, as required by the covenants (note that those with double boxes only need numbers on the visible side).

When Towne lake was developed, it was decided that having a consistent style for mailboxes would lend cohesiveness and continuity to the appearance of our neighborhood. These mailboxes are the property of each homeowner, and need to be maintained by each homeowner. We understand that many of these mailboxes are now over ten years old. You can easily paint them yourself, with a gloss black paint meant for metal surfaces.

Another option is to call Mr. Mike Zambiasi at 834-5344 (Home) or 558-5212 (Cell), who can paint your single mailbox for $30 or double mailboxes (both) for $45, with a very nice industrial paint which was used on our streetlights and stop sign posts.

If you need replacement or repair parts, you can mail the Mel Northey Company, 303 Gulf Bank Road, Houston, TX 77037-2499, phone them at (281) 445-3485, or visit their website at www.melnorthey.com. The style for our Towne Lake mailboxes is Williamsburg, Model 5523B-2 for the double boxes, and Model 5523B for the single boxes. Proper street numbers are required on both sides, and replacements can also be ordered.

The following documents are a parts lists for both single and double mailboxes, as well as an order form which can be faxed or mailed to the Mel Northey company.

  Single Mailbox 5523B Parts List

  Double Mailbox 5523B-2 Parts List

Don't let your mailbox be shamed by the light posts - fix them up!

Proper Signage When Selling Your Home.

One of the Towne Lake Covenants which was designed to maintain the overall feel of our community is the posting of only approved "For Sale" signs when you list your home. All of the local real-estate companies are familiar with this requirement, and we're sure everyone has noticed that only Towne Lake signs are seen. To comply with this covenant, if you plan to place a For Sale By Owner sign in your yard, please contact Midstate Advertising & Signs, at 1212 Adams Avenue. They are located just across Hall Street Downtown, where the Mt. Meigs Road becomes Adams Avenue. Their phone number is (334) 262-6340. They can produce a sign for you, and you will be ready to go.

Fishing In Towne Lake.

Use of the lakes and the common areas in Towne Lake are for the enjoyment of our homeowners and their guests. In an attempt to control unauthorized use of our common areas, it is the Policy of the Association Board that a resident MUST accompany all guests. Vehicle stickers are available for $3.00 to identify residents who wish to fish. These are an attractive static-cling sticker which can be obtained from Mr. Chuck Miceli (354-2539) or Mr. Leon Willis. Both can be found in your Towne Lake Directory. Your cooperation in controlling unauthorized use will help to preserve a clean and safe environment in all our common areas.

All unaccompanied non-residents will be asked to leave, and the police will be called if they do not cooperate. Please do not become involved in any confrontation with a non-resident, simply call the police, who are trained to deal with these types of situations. Also, please help all your neighbors by reporting suspicious activity, loitering, or unacceptable use of the common areas to a Board Member.

Do not remove or kill the grass carp from any pond. They control the weeds and moss.

The pond north of Bristol Way (#1) has become severely overcrowded with small starving bass and contains very few small and intermediate bluegills and few medium and large bass. We must remove as many small bass from this pond as possible, and release the bream. Please encourage your neighbors and guests to remove as many bass under 10-12 inches as possible, for the next few years.

In June of 2006 we stocked 1,350 bream into the Gazebo pond, (#4). The bass have really fattened up and look very healthy now. This is the best pond for catching good size bass. Dark plastic worms, tubes, shallow running crank baits and chrome rattle traps work best here. In January of 2007 we added 12 Christmas trees to the Wiltshire pond (#2). Crappie have already started to school around these trees and can be caught on 1/16 - 1/8 oz. crappie jigs, fished slowly, on light line under a small cork. Thanks to everyone who donated the used trees. We will do the same next year for the Gazebo pond (#4).

Crappie and cat fishing is very good in January, February, and March in ponds 2, 3, and 4 off Wiltshire Drive. Keep and/or kill all the crappie and catfish you catch from any pond! They over populate very fast and compete heavily with the bass and bream.

We have had several problems with poachers last year, stealing bass from ponds 2 and 3 off Wiltshire Drive. Please call Chuck Miceli, (354-2539), or Leon Willis when you see people removing bass or bream from these two ponds!

Bristol Way pond (#1): Release all the bream and remove bass which are less than 12 inches. This will help us to correct the overcrowding and rebuild some forage so the bass can grow again.

Wiltshire Drive ponds (#2 and #3): Release all bass and bream. Crappie are preventing them from reproducing. Add small bass from any other pond. This will help to control the crappie.

Gazebo pond (#4): Release all bream. We need more forage for the bass to grow.

Please follow the rules below for everyone's safety and enjoyment:

Lake #1 - Fishing only for residents whose homes border the lake, and their guests.
Lakes #2, #3, and #4 - Fishing for all Towne Lake residents and their guests. Please note that there is some private property on the east side of lake #2.
Lake #5 - This is property of the Arrowhead Country Club, and there is NO FISHING allowed.
Lakes #6 and #7 - This is also property of the Arrowhead Country Club, but fishing is allowed only for those residents whose homes border the lakes, and their guests.

Recycling.

Did you know you can put a lot more than just newspapers and aluminum cans into your orange recycling bags? Newspapers, white paper, computer paper, chipboard, magazines, and brown paper bags are all accepted as recyclable paper products. You can also recycle your old phonebooks, but they DO NOT WANT shredded paper.

You can also recycle all soda, beer, and other beverage cans (but NOT aluminum foil), steel cans such as soup, vegetable and fruit cans, as well as #1 and #2 plastics (look on the bottom of each plastic container for a number in the triangle). You are requested to please remove lids, rinse out cans and bottles, and flatten as much as possible. Note that they are no longer accepting glass.

You can call the recycling office at 241-2925 to receive an orange bag and other recycling instructions, or this link will take you to information on Montgomery's Recycling program. The City will tie an orange recycling bag to your curbside garbage barrel only if you participate in the recycling program. Save all your recyclables until your scheduled recycling day. Place the orange bag on the curb before 7:00 am on your scheduled day and you will receive a new replacement bag at pick-up.

Every ton of recycled paper produced SAVES approximately 17 trees, and a ton of recycled paper uses 7,000 gallons LESS water to produce than non-recycled paper? Recycling also extends the effective life of our landfills - which helps the city keep our costs down.

Holiday Trash Days.

This link will take you to the City's holiday trash collection schedule, if you are unsure what day they will pick up during a holiday.
